Symbol V (Spell)
As Symbol I, except it allows the following effects:
- Symbol of Doom (Necromancy)
- This symbol has a range of Short (25 ft + 5 ft/level) when evoked. You scribe this symbol upon the floor or ground, where it covers a 5-ft radius circle. After one full round, the symbol erupts into a pillar of dark energy, inflicting 1d8 damage per level to all within the radius, up to 20 ft above the symbol, with no save. This is shadow damage, which affects only living creatures.
- Symbol of Binding (Abjuration)
- This symbol has a range of Short (25 ft + 5 ft/level) when evoked. You scribe this symbol upon the floor or ground, where it covers a 20-ft radius circle. As soon as it appears, the area within the radius, up to a height of 80 ft, is under the effects of a dimensional lock, and the outer boundary (and top and bottom of the cylinder) becomes impassable as a wall of force. One round later, the wall becomes immune to disintegrate. The binding goes both ways, blocking spells and attacks from the outside directed in.
:You may cast one spell into the binding, which allows no saving throw or spell resistance, after which the binding circle is dismissed. Even if there are multiple targets inside, you may cast only one spell.
:When evoked, the effect has a duration of 1 round per 3 levels or until discharged. When inscribed, the effect lasts 10 minutes per level; a permanent symbol of binding, once discharged, reforms 1 round later. Material component cost: 10,000 gp.
- Symbol of Cataclysm (Transmutation)
- This symbol acts as the earthquake spell in a 60 ft radius. When evoked, it lasts 1 round per level; when inscribed, it lasts 10 minutes per level. The object or ground on which the symbol is inscribed is unharmed by the spell's effect. Material component cost: 10,000 gp.
